The Atlético Mineiro 1983 Home Retro Football Jersey represents a memorable campaign in the history of Galo. The Belo Horizonte club reached the semi-finals of the 1983 Campeonato Brasileiro, finishing third overall, and continued its remarkable dominance of Minas Gerais football by winning a sixth consecutive Campeonato Mineiro title. Atlético secured the state championship with a 3–0 victory over Nacional, completing another successful year for one of Brazil's most established clubs.

The team featured several celebrated figures of Brazilian football, including Reinaldo, Éder Aleixo, Nelinho and Luisinho. Reinaldo scored twice in the decisive state championship victory, while Nelinho finished as Atlético's leading scorer in the national competition with eight goals. Éder, already internationally recognised for his performances at the 1982 FIFA World Cup, added further attacking quality to a side that remained among Brazil's strongest during the early 1980s.

The shirt features Atlético Mineiro's traditional black-and-white vertical stripes, with broad contrasting panels extending across the body and sleeves. A clean white V-neck collar reinforces its classic early-1980s appearance, while the black CAM shield with a single gold star is positioned on the chest. The minimalist, sponsor-free front allows the club's distinctive striped identity to remain the centrepiece, making this a timeless representation of Atlético Mineiro's historic championship-winning era.

  • Rec. Player Printing Options

In 1983, Brazilian clubs used traditional match-day numbers rather than permanent squad numbers. Historically appropriate printing should therefore feature numbers only, without player names.

The recommendations below are supported by contemporary 1983 match line-ups, including Atlético's state championship-winning match against Nacional.

    Best Printing Choice: 9 (Reinaldo)

    Other Strong Options: 11 (Éder Aleixo) / 2 (Nelinho) / 4 (Luisinho) / 10 (Marcus Vinícius)

  • Season Information

Atlético Mineiro's 1983 campaign was part of an exceptionally successful period in the club's state football history. Under the guidance of Telê Santana, Atlético continued its dominance of the Campeonato Mineiro, securing another state championship during a run of six consecutive titles from 1978 to 1983.

The squad featured several important figures from the club's late-1970s and early-1980s generation, most notably Reinaldo, one of the greatest forwards in Atlético Mineiro history. His attacking quality and long association with the club made him the defining player of the era. Other notable members of the squad included Éder Aleixo, whose powerful left foot and performances for Brazil at the 1982 World Cup made him internationally recognisable, and midfielder Toninho Cerezo, another major figure of Brazilian football.

The 1983 shirt belongs to the period when Brazilian clubs used traditional match-day numbers rather than modern permanent squad numbering. It also reflects Atlético's long-established black-and-white identity, closely associated with the club's nickname, Galo.
