The AC Milan 2006-07 Third Retro Football Shirt recreates the striking black third kit worn during one of the most memorable seasons in the club’s European history — a campaign that culminated in victory in the 2006/07 UEFA Champions League.

Milan entered Serie A with an eight-point deduction following the Calciopoli proceedings and also had to begin their Champions League campaign in qualifying against Red Star Belgrade. Despite the disrupted preparation and difficult start, Carlo Ancelotti’s side recovered to secure a top-four Serie A finish.
Europe ultimately transformed the season. Milan progressed from a Champions League group containing AEK Athens, Anderlecht and Lille, before defeating Celtic in the Round of 16. Bayern Munich followed in the quarter-finals: after a 2–2 first leg at San Siro, Milan produced a 2–0 victory in Munich through goals from Clarence Seedorf and Filippo Inzaghi.
The semi-final against Manchester United became one of the defining ties of the campaign. Milan lost the first leg 3–2 at Old Trafford, with Kaká scoring twice, but responded with a superb 3–0 victory at San Siro through Kaká, Seedorf and Gilardino to reach the final 5–3 on aggregate.
The final in Athens on 23 May 2007 reunited Milan with Liverpool, two years after the dramatic 2005 final in Istanbul. This time Milan prevailed 2–1, with Filippo Inzaghi scoring both goals. Captain Paolo Maldini lifted the trophy as Milan became European champions for the seventh time; for Maldini personally, it was his fifth European Cup/Champions League triumph.
At the centre of the entire European campaign was Kaká. Wearing No.22, the Brazilian scored 10 Champions League goals, comfortably finishing as the competition’s leading scorer. UEFA's season statistics also record him with 28 shots on target, the highest total in the tournament.
This was the campaign that elevated Kaká to the very highest level of world football. His performances against Celtic, Bayern and especially Manchester United made the No.22 shirt one of the defining player-number combinations associated with Milan’s 2006/07 season.
