The Rangers 1992-94 Away Jersey comes from one of the most successful periods in the club’s history, spanning the heart of Walter Smith’s dominant early-1990s side.

The design is built around a predominantly white base with strong royal blue and red detailing, creating a classic Rangers away look. The contrasting shoulder treatment, traditional collar and loose early-1990s silhouette give the jersey an unmistakable period character.

This shirt is especially associated with the extraordinary 1992/93 campaign, when Rangers completed a domestic treble and came remarkably close to reaching the inaugural UEFA Champions League Final. The white away shirt was even worn at Ibrox against Club Brugge in the Champions League because competition regulations at the time required the home team to change in the event of a colour clash.

Important historical note: the white away design is principally the 1992/93 away shirt. Rangers introduced a substantially different navy-and-orange striped away kit for 1993/94. Some collectors and retailers describe the white design as “1992-94”, but it should not be interpreted as Rangers’ regular 1993/94 away design.

  • Season Information

    Season/Year: 1992/93 era
    Club: Rangers FC
    Country: Scotland
Competition: Scottish Premier Division / Scottish Cup / Scottish League Cup / UEFA Champions League
    Kit Type: Away Jersey

The 1992/93 season was one of Rangers’ greatest campaigns. Walter Smith’s team won the Scottish Premier Division, Scottish Cup and Scottish League Cup, completing the club’s fifth domestic treble. The league championship was also Rangers’ fifth consecutive title on the way to the famous nine-in-a-row run.

Rangers also mounted an outstanding European campaign in the inaugural UEFA Champions League. After progressing through the preliminary rounds, they entered a group containing Marseille, Club Brugge and CSKA Moscow. Rangers remained unbeaten in the group but finished only one point behind Marseille, narrowly missing a place in the final.

At the centre of the season was Ally McCoist, who produced an extraordinary scoring campaign. He scored 34 league goals and 49 goals in all competitions, finishing as Rangers’ leading scorer while playing alongside major figures such as Mark Hateley, Ian Durrant, Stuart McCall, Richard Gough and Trevor Steven.

Rangers retained the league title in 1993/94, making it six championships in succession, and also won another League Cup. Mark Hateley became the leading scorer with 30 goals in all competitions, including 22 in the league. However, Rangers had introduced a different away design for that campaign.

  • Rec. Player Printing Options

    Printing Recommendation
McCOIST 9 The strongest recommendation. Ally McCoist scored an exceptional 49 goals in 1992/93 and was the defining goalscorer of Rangers’ treble-winning campaign.
HATELEY 10 The classic strike-partner option. Mark Hateley was a major figure throughout the era and became Rangers’ leading scorer in the following 1993/94 title-winning season.
McCALL 8 One of the most representative midfield choices. Stuart McCall was a relentless presence in Walter Smith’s side and played a major role in Rangers’ domestic and European campaigns.
DURRANT 11 A strong Rangers-connected choice. Ian Durrant came through the club and was one of the most technically gifted midfielders associated with this successful generation.
GOUGH 4 The standout defensive choice. Captain Richard Gough was one of the defining leaders of Rangers’ nine-in-a-row era and lifted major silverware throughout this period.
HUIStra 7 A distinctive attacking option from the 1992/93 side. Pieter Huistra was an important wide player during the treble-winning campaign and European run.
MIKHAILICHENKO 6 A strong alternative representing the international quality of the squad. The Ukrainian midfielder was an important member of Walter Smith’s successful early-1990s team.
STEVEN 7 A classic Rangers option from this era. Trevor Steven brought extensive international and European experience and featured during the memorable Champions League campaign.

Early-1990s Rangers did not operate with modern permanent squad-number conventions in the same way as today, so historical match usage can vary. The combinations below reflect the numbers most strongly associated with these players during this period.

McCOIST 9 is comfortably the strongest recommendation for the Rangers 1992-94 Away Jersey.

The connection to 1992/93 is particularly strong: McCoist scored 49 goals in all competitions, including 34 in the league, as Rangers won the domestic treble and went unbeaten through their Champions League group.

No.9 is also historically well supported for this shirt period. Contemporary examples exist of the 1992/93 away shirt carrying McCoist’s No.9, while number-history records associate him with No.9 in both 1992/93 and 1993/94.

For alternatives, GOUGH 4 carries the strongest captain/club-legend connection, HATELEY 10 represents the famous strike partnership, and McCALL 8 is the leading midfield choice.
