The Fulham 2001–02 Home Retro Football Jersey celebrates one of the most important seasons in the club's modern history. After winning the First Division title in 2000–01, Fulham entered the Premier League for the first time under manager Jean Tigana, returning to England's top flight after 33 years. The Cottagers finished 13th with 44 points, securing their Premier League status while also reaching the FA Cup semi-finals.

The squad featured a memorable combination of established players and exciting new signings, including Louis Saha, Steed Malbranque, Luís Boa Morte, Barry Hayles, Steve Finnan and Steve Marlet. Saha, Malbranque and Hayles each scored eight Premier League goals, while the experienced Edwin van der Sar strengthened the team in goal. Their performances helped establish Fulham as a competitive top-flight club and laid the foundations for the years that followed.

The jersey features Fulham's traditional white base, complemented by a contrasting black fold-over collar with a V-shaped opening and subtle red trim. Black panels beneath the sleeves and along the sides create a distinctive silhouette, while red accents on the sleeve cuffs add a characteristic early-2000s touch. The Fulham club crest appears on the chest, with the iconic Pizza Hut sponsorship displayed prominently across the front. Combining a clean design with memorable historical significance, this retro shirt captures Fulham's arrival on the Premier League stage.

    • Historical Significance: Fulham's First Premier League Season

The 2001–02 season marked a historic milestone for Fulham FC, as the London club competed in the Premier League for the first time, returning to England's top division after a 33-year absence.

Under French manager Jean Tigana, Fulham had achieved promotion as First Division champions in 2000–01. Backed by chairman Mohamed Al-Fayed, the club invested heavily in its squad, bringing in experienced international players including Edwin van der Sar, Steed Malbranque, Sylvain Legwinski and Steve Marlet.

Fulham finished 13th in the Premier League with 44 points, successfully securing their top-flight status. Although the team could not replicate its dominant performances from the previous season, Tigana's attacking philosophy and technically gifted squad helped establish the club at the highest level of English football.

The season's standout achievement came in the FA Cup, where Fulham reached the semi-finals before losing 1–0 to Chelsea at Villa Park. Their run demonstrated the club's growing competitiveness against established Premier League opposition.

In attack, Louis Saha, Steed Malbranque and Barry Hayles each scored eight Premier League goals, while Hayles finished as the club's leading scorer across all competitions with 12 goals. Portuguese international Luís Boa Morte also remained an important part of the squad, contributing pace and versatility.

The 2001–02 home shirt became particularly memorable because of its distinctive Pizza Hut sponsorship, white-and-black colour scheme and subtle red accents. It remains closely associated with Fulham's arrival in the Premier League and the beginning of a new era at Craven Cottage.

    Recommendation

    SAHA 20

The definitive choice for Fulham's first Premier League home shirt. Louis Saha was the club's star striker following his outstanding promotion-winning campaign and scored eight league goals during the 2001–02 season.

    MALBRANQUE 14

An excellent alternative. Steed Malbranque joined Fulham in the summer of 2001 and immediately impressed with his creativity, technical ability and eight Premier League goals.

    BOA MORTE 22

A memorable choice from Fulham's early Premier League era. Luís Boa Morte brought pace, versatility and attacking energy, later becoming one of the club's most recognisable players.

    HAYLES 15

A historically significant option. Barry Hayles scored eight league goals and finished as Fulham's leading scorer across all competitions with 12 goals, helping the club secure Premier League survival.

    FINNAN 2

An outstanding defensive choice. Steve Finnan was a consistent presence at right-back and an important member of the team that won promotion and established Fulham in the Premier League.

    MARLET 9

A distinctive alternative. French international Steve Marlet arrived from Lyon in August 2001 in a club-record transfer, reflecting Fulham's ambitions during their first Premier League campaign.
